The B2 route is not too dissimilar to the B1 route, certainly not in terms of how it feels – rather bumpy with all the speed bumps. The route took me around various suburbs of Barry, into the town centre and then back out again. The name on the bus stop amused me, ‘Pillar Box’, especially as there didn’t seem to be one. I see on the website version of the route it appears to have been renamed the stop Pontypridd Road.

My exercise for the day comprised of a walk down to Porthkerry Park and back along good tree-lined paths. I was half expecting the café to be closed as it was a Monday but was relieved to find it open and busy.

I partook of a coffee and read some of the Billy Connolly autobiography. As I was reading it I was imagining him sat of the couch being interviewed by Michael Parkinson and telling the stories in the book.

I admired the sixteen-arch railway viaduct that eventually opened in 1900 after suffering some subsidence glitches during construction. They must have fixed the problems rather well as it still takes trains over the valley today.

After a walk along the boardwalk to view the sea I headed back up the path to Barry.
